Liam Katt's Webpage

I was born and reared in Dublin, Ireland. My first literary experience was often meeting Brendan Behan as he passed by the Gate Bar pub near where I lived on the Crumlin Road. His parents lived nearby, I was about four then in 1957. My next literary influence was Joe Orton ten years later when I was 13 years of age, I liked his dislike of society's standards. In 1967 I was on holiday in London with my family and decided to visit him at his home in Noel Road, Islington. I took a tube from near Cricklewood and climbed the stairs of the house where he had the top flat. Perhaps fortunately for me he was not at home. In Later years with Sue Townsend I helped found the Orton Society sadly no more today.
